Six Sentence Sunday: The Harder He Falls

Welcome to this week’s Six Sentence Sunday!

This week I deviated from my writing schedule a little. I’m supposed to be editing, but I came up with the perfect introduction for the second book in my So Inked series. This book is tentatively named The Harder He Falls. It focuses on one of the owners of the tattoo shop, Kellie. This is part of the opening scene.

Leaning back, Kellie looked down at her creased face. There was a glimmer in Grandma’s eyes, as if she were surfacing, or trying to. It broke Kellie’s heart, watching her slip further and further away, and not be able to do anything to stem the tide of Alzheimer’s.

She straightened the glasses on Grandma’s nose and smoothed her hair back behind her ears. “Remember me, Grandma?”

Grandma slowly shook her head, “No.”

I’ll be honest, I didn’t think I’d be writing this book when I created Kellie. I anticipated just writing the one book. I might not have written Kellie with her grandmother having Alzheimer’s if I’d known I was going to do a book about her. My grandfather died from complications due to his Alzheimer’s. He was already so far gone by the time I was born, he never knew who I was. So this is going to be a difficult book for me to write, but I think it reflects an current culture. Well, thanks for joining me. Have a lovely Sunday!
