Welcome back to Six Sentence Sunday! The last three weeks I’ve shared the opening lines of my next book with Ellora’s Cave, Personal Adventures. Today I want to share the next six lines. If you missed the previous three shares, pop over and read those lines before this week’s installment.

If she said no, if Elise wasn’t interested, their friendship would never be the same. But he was getting too old to waste his time. Turning thirty hadn’t been so bad, but something about turning thirty-one at the beginning of the summer had done a number on him. He wasn’t a kid anymore, and he needed to man up and ask her out.

Squeezing his eyes shut, he sucked in a deep breath of the fresh air perfumed with all the scents of a Rocky Mountain autumn. He’d been here two years.
