Healthier Me in 2013 Challenge

This entry is part 1 of 11 in the series Healthier Me 2013

Dear Reader,

I’ve made no secret that I’m struggling with my weight. Last year my doctor told me I had to lose at least 40lbs, and it would be best for me if I lost 60lbs. Since spring of 2012 I’ve been ever so slowly losing the excess weight, but I’ve stalled. And it’s depressing and it sucks and I figure, why  not have a day where I just eat candy bars for every meal and as many Dr Peppers as I want?

I did that yesterday.

And then I saw a tweet by my good friend Regina Cole. She’s in the same place I am.

I’m always of the mind that doing anything with a partner is easier. When you can cheer each other on, it’s more exciting. You have cheerleaders that want you to succeed as much as they want to succeed as well. So why not invite our fellow authors and readers to join us? I think everyone I know wants to lose a pound or two. I know that my personal goals aren’t just to lose weight, but to be healthier. More active. Which is why we aren’t calling this a weight loss challenge. Weight is a number, health is a state of being. We want to include those who want to tone that tummy and those who want to slim down. We want tips and tricks and encouragement from everyone!

This is my invitation to you to join Regina Cole and I in a challenge we’re calling Healthier Me in 2013. We’re going to be doing blogging check-in’s on Tuesdays, tweeting under the hashtag #healthierme13 and posting tips and things to try on Facebook. Below is a Linky Tools sign up and pledge your goals. You don’t have to tell us how much you want to lose or how much you’d like to get fit. I’ll be running the Linky Tools each week for those who wish to blog, but if that’s not your speed, join us on Facebook and twitter!

What a great idea — thank you for the open invite! I’ve noticed a decline in my activity levels these past couple of months, and I’d like to work on getting my strength and endurance back to kick-butt levels. If I can do up the top button on my favourite jeans again, that’s a bonus 🙂
