Honestly, nearly all the paranormal creatures we often associate with being heroes these days (vamps, shifters, demons, deities, etc.) were at best to be kept at a safe distance and at worst, the scariest things imaginable and ones to send you running for your life. I totally remember being scared to sleep after reading/watching Dracula-type stories or werewolf stories! I think the most interesting to me are the demons–I’ve always believed them to be very frightening and evil things, and to have writers able to present them to me as not only sympathetic characters but heroic, is quite the feat!

Congrats on the Ancient Blood series, Kate–I think I’ve some catching up to do! 🙂

I love the monsters in stories. They have always fascinated me. My favorite shifters are the dragons and big cats.

I love that the monsters have now turned into the heroes. My favorite are shifters, especially wolves and big cats. Their animal characteristics give us some seriously sexy storylines.

I love the werewolf shifter in romance. He can be deadly and dangerous toward his enemies while being loyal and loving to his mate and his pack. Gotta love it!
