Wow, I’ve just recently found out that I have ADD, and what a relief that was. I’ve been trying to finish a book for the last several years, and with three kids and a full time job, add to that ADD and you have the recipe for getting absolutely nowhere on a bullet train. Your journey hit a note because it sounds so much like the road I have travelled. For me the research itself is so distracting, and then I get a new idea and off I go re-writing. Thanks for such a lovely article, it was very inspiring. I might have to pick up one of your books for a bit more distraction. 🙂

Hey Karla! I know, right? My betas are always grumbling at me, “When do I get to see the rest of that thing you did with the thing?”

They have to wait!

As far as our little furry friends, they are difficult to avoid because I live out in the country. I just hope they don’t run out in front of my car.

Other things that distract me: Cheesecake and anything sparkly!!!

Oh, I so hear you on the writerly ADD thing. How many times have I listened to my beta say, “Don’t start anything new! Finish one of the books you have started!” Lol.

I was reading this post thinking “That’s me!!!” – minus the living in the middle of a rice paddy part – the entire way through. I have a terrible time finishing, let alone editing, full-length novels. Short and HOT is so much fun to write!
