I’m over the moon today!! After getting some really great feedback from my editor about Personal Adventures, I didn’t think my day could get better yesterday, but it did. I submitted a book for the Ellora’s Cave Pricked themed call, and yesterday my lovely-amazing-totally-fab editor told me they wanted it. I just dropped the contract off in the mail and away it goes!
The details, the book is part of the Pricked theme call, entitled Under His Skin. It’s book one in a series I’m writing, and it seems like there’s a lot of interest in what happens next. Which is good, because I’m already writing book two!!! This is a full length novel. Because of the theme call, it will be out in July 2012, so not that long to wait.
This is going to be a full length novel. It’s different from both Flirting with Rescue and Personal Adventures in that there’s an external danger through the whole book. There’s a lot more moving parts and pieces to this story, and I love it! I knew that eventually I wanted to write something about tattoo culture, but if it wasn’t for Kelli Collins, EC’s Editor in Chief, I wouldn’t have bothered.
I wish I would have screen capped the twitter conversation Kelli and I had back in January. I was working on a different book for this call, and told her a little about it. She challenged me to write something else. I wasn’t going to, I was almost ready to sub the book I was working on, two months ahead of the deadline. But my uncle passed away. There’s something about a family death that turns on the words. Maybe it’s how I grieve, but I wrote. And wrote. And wrote. I forget how long it took me to write the initial draft, but it was days, maybe a week and some change. All in all, I wrote, edited and submitted this book in about six weeks. I do not suggest this.
As always, this would never have happened without Kelli poking me, and my friends for supporting me and humoring me through writing this book. I really had to have some hand holding on a few days, especially the ones around my uncle’s funeral. Suzan, Linda, Alice, Jessica, Rebekah, Jodie and Carolyn, you guys really make this happen for me. Writing wouldn’t be as much fun without you! My editor, Jilly, who is more patient than Job. I’m learning, I swear! Big thanks to my fellow Belles and EC authors, the WC crew and my fellow Divas. Karen, Karla, Crystal, Sasha, Voirey, Keri, Nena, Ayla, Annie, Hailey, Linda, Inez, I know I’m forgetting names…. This is starting to feel like an acceptance speech, I know! Anyways, there are a lot of people I need to thank for their support and kind words during this process. It’s meant a lot to me.
