Bondage Expo Dallas

Dear Reader,

This last weekend was the second annual Bondage Expo Dallas, or, as we like to call it, B.E.D.

BED is a conference all about bondage. I’m sure you had to really think about that one, huh? The main focus of BED is rope bondage, which isn’t quite as obvious by the name, but one look at the presenters, classes and vendors and yup–it’s rope!

This year there were well over 250 attendees to this second conference, and it just got better! There are tracks for all stages of participants, from those who just bought rope in the vendor room, to those who have been doing this forever. It also has classes for those who want to be tied up, and those who want to do the tying.

There’s a little something for everyone!

As an attending author, my experience was a little different–but no less awesome! We had a full author alley, with about a dozen authors selling books on Saturday and handing out swag. Jennifer Kacey and I probably gave out a few hundred buttons to random attendees. Everyone needed flare for those lanyards!

Sadly there aren’t any pictures. Because of the nature of the event and the desire to keep it open to everyone who wants to attend, phones, cameras and recording devices aren’t allowed. But the experience of it was awesome!

Another really cool thing that happened this year prior to the conference was the local Dallas Observer did a whole piece on the conference and people behind it.

You can read the full article here, on the Dallas Observer website.

I was really excited about the article, and not only because DK, or DallasKink, is about one of the coolest people I’ve met, but also because the article went beyond the sensationalism of having a kinky conference in town. There are actually several in my area of varying sizes. I highly recommend the article!

While I’m really biased and think BED is the best, there are lots of conferences out there. If you’re someone who wants to get into kink, look for some of these events. Many of them have introduced tracts for the very beginner level, especially since the popularity of BDSM fiction has taken off in the last few years. The community and organizers recognize the need for a safe learning environment.

A little birdie told me BED will happen again in 2015, same weekend, same venue. I’m planning on being there again! Will you?

Like BED on Facebook or follow them on Twitter. Keep an eye on their website for information on the 2015 conference!
