Dear Reader,
Okay, so this Friday Finds edition isn’t about books, it’s about midnight shopping, which was C-R-A-Z-Y!
I didn’t have anything in mind that was having a huge deal at midnight. But there were items I was hoping to hit a better sale on then normal. My mom had mentioned a few household things that she wanted and Kohl’s is great for household things and getting cash back. The line to get in Kohl’s though, that was nuts. When I drove up the parking lot was almost full, which I’ve never seen before. There were cops. Sales people instructing shoppers to not stand directly in front of the doors to avoid a rush. It was fairly nuts.
Since I got there only a few minutes before midnight I knew I wasn’t going to get a cart or even a bag. My strategy was go run in and grab the big armful of stuff I knew I wanted. So I ran back to the housewares and got the items I’d scouted a week before. I was in and out in about fifteen minutes. My second trip though took about two and a half hours after shopping, waiting in line and checking out. That was exhausting.
I only went to Kohl’s and Target, so not as many stores as some people, but I’m probably 1/3 or even 1/2 done with my shopping. Not as good as I’d hoped for, but still pretty good.
Because my birthday is next week, I always do a little Black Friday Birthday Indulgence Shopping. This year I got an amazing little black dress that’s very vintage inspired, complete with a boat neckline and capped sleeves. A few housewares, like wall stickers and Christmas decorations.
This time I bought my wall stickers at Target, and I hate them. They rip very easily and I’m just not happy with them. If you want wall stickers, go to Kohl’s or order some off etsy, as there are a lot of awesome small businesses that make some great wall art.
Now I’m going to spend the rest of my Black Friday on the couch, watching hockey and resting!
