An Author’s Nightmare

Dear Reader,

Do you know what makes an author wake up in the middle of the night?

A lot of stuff.

But I’ll tell you about this one time, last week…

Okay, I’ve mentioned it, but Personal Adventures is now a forthcoming book from Ellora’s Cave. I’m super excited about this. Like, way thrilled. Last week I also sent in my cover art form. It includes details about the book, a brief description of the characters and a two paragraph synopsis about the book. It’s a pretty simple form to do.

So last week I had this dream that the Art department was trying to send me the cover for Personal Adventures. But the file wouldn’t attach. And when it did come through it was overly pixilized and had to be resent.

I woke up and immediately checked my phone. No email, no art.

So I go back to sleep. And proceed to dream about the worst cover my book could have. There was a guy on the cover with tentacles and green skin, my book is a contemporary romance. The title was wrong. The only thing right was my name.

Again, I woke up and checked my phone. Thank God there wasn’t any email.

I’m going to go take a nap now, and hopefully not dream.
