Welcome back to Six Sentence Sunday! The last few weeks I’ve shared the opening lines of my next book with Ellora’s Cave, Personal Adventures. Today I want to share the next six seven lines. I know! I’m breaking the rules again. Sorry! If you missed the previous shares, pop over and read those lines before this week’s installment.
She went back to the pile of oars and picked up another load. “Yeah, well, you don’t get to pick your family, I guess, do you?”
“No, you don’t,” he replied for lack of something better to say. Carey took a deep breath. He had to go for it. Taking the oars from her, he tried to sound casual. “Go out with me tonight, instead.”
And there you have it. In case you’re curious, you can check out the rest of the info on the book over on the bookshelf. It comes out on Friday, I’m super excited about it! And because I’m really nice, here’s the blurb.
Carey’s had the hots for his best friend Elise for two years, but the timing has never been right. Now they’re both single and Carey wants to entice her into an adventure that’s about just the two of them.
Elise doesn’t buy into the idea of love, but lust she understands. Carey’s friendship is important, but a relationship doesn’t fit into Elise’s five-year plan. She isn’t looking to repeat her parents’ mistakes.
With secrets coming out from under every rock, this adventure might make more than the water rush.
Casual but desperate inside. I could feel his tension. Happy Release Day on the 18th!

I could feel his tension, even though he’s trying to be casual. Great six.
