#ROW80 is A Round of Words in 80 Days. It’s a quarterly writing challenge where you define your personal goals and blog each week about your progress. It’s made to be flexible and allow for tweaking.
Heeeellllllooooooo again! Yes, I’m going another update so soon. Typically I only update Wednesdays, but since I started #ROW80 late I went ahead and did a Sunday update as well. This will be fairly short. I think. I’m saying this before I’ve even written this update so w
Writing Goals
This week has been focused mostly on promotional stuff for my two February releases, A Kiss for a Cure and Collar Me in Paris. Yes, two books out in one month. I fully expect to be drooling on myself in the corner come March. I’ve successfully written a blog a day, which is my goal to keep me on track for staying ahead of my promotion needs. If I can do this, I’ll be completely done writing them in the first two weeks of February and free to just promote and write, which will be a relief!
I’m also working on some still secret stuff that I can’t talk about yet. Needless to say, it’s really awesome and I hope to be able to share by Friday.
Tonight I’ll be doing a chat for Savvy Authors on how to decide if you should write BDSM, and how to get started. More info here.
One funny thing that happened last night, I pretty much dreamed the next scene in my Service Optional outline. This is the book I’m supposed to be writing on right now, but with all the other really important stuff going on, I’ve had to take a break from it. I’m worried about this break and what it’ll do for my mojo on the book, but if my dream is any indication, I’ll be able to jump back into it. I’m kicking around the idea of rereading the 30Kish that I have written and doing light edits along the way before picking up and writing the second half.
Health Goals
Monday fellow author Reggie Cole tweeted about her frustrations and wanting to kick some pounds to the side. I chimed in that we should cheer each other on, and the idea kind of snowballed into, why don’t we do a healthier me challenge? So Reggie and I are officially, as of yesterday, doing a very free form Healthier Me in 2013 challenge. There’s more information in this post here. I might discontinue this section of my #ROW80 posts just because it would be redundant.
Social Goals
This is my week of implementing my 50/50 rule. I have to make sure that at least 50% of my non-day job time must be spent on the author gig. Lately it’s been very unbalanced toward being social and I’ve been feeling the strain on me. I feel bad for socializing instead of writing, which feeds my creative needs and also has the added perk of making me money. This has made some of my editing must do’s pile up. So this week has been mostly writing focused. I have social stuff planned for Friday and Saturday, with the intention of spending Sunday totally focused. We’ll see how that goes. Next week will be social heavy, and I accept that since this week was all writing!
I feel better about these few days than I have about most of the month leading up till now. I know that things are going to be on a learning curve as I figure out how my writing and social life and health needs are going to work out. I’m okay with that. I’m also okay with the fact that I might need to step out of an oportunity I was really excited about because it’s not a good fit for where I am now. And how’s that for vague?
